Tinyiko Malusi
Tinyiko Maluri, an internationally recognized mixed media artist, was born in 1980 in Bungeni, Limpopo Province, South Africa, and now resides in Johannesburg. His artistic journey began at the age of 10, and in 2013, he started his formal studies at Artist Proof Studio, graduating in Fine Art Printmaking in 2016. Maluri’s works, crafted using charcoal and acrylic paint, delve into personal traumas and universal struggles. he also served as a drawing facilitator intern at Artist Proof studio. Notably, Maluri won an award for best Artist at World Art Dubai 2024, outshining participants from 60 countries.

Artist Statement
Tinyiko Malusi is Currently working on the wheelbarrow series. Artworks that symbolise the human experience of drawing strength from life’s burdens, using the metaphor of a wheelbarrow. The central focus is on a person pushing a heavily loaded wheelbarrow. representing the challenges and the responsibilities we carry. the weight becomes overwhelming, mirroring life’s struggles. the wheelbarrow acts as a metaphorical vessel for burdens, showcasing that even when faced with adversity, an internal force propels us forward. this project aims to convey the idea that, just like a wheelbarrow in motion, life keeps moving forward.
